The Merrie Monarch, the world’s most prestigious hula competition, takes place every year in Hilo, Hawai’i. The Academy of Hawaiian Arts is proud to have represented Northern California at the Merrie Monarch since 2006, one of the few non-Hawai’i-based hālau to be invited to participate.

AHA will be returning with both kāne and wahine teams to Merrie Monarch 2016, March 31-April 2.
