Academy of Hawaiian Arts and MKH Productions present Waikiki - The Enchantment on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Chabot College Performing Arts Center in Hayward, CA. “Waikiki – The Enchantment” debuts a new, original work by kumu hula Mark Keali’i Ho’omalu. The show will feature newly composed mele (songs) and hula for the region, along with a host of classic songs that made Waikiki famous. From impressions of life in Waikiki before Western contact to its "Golden Age" of surf boys and Hollywood starlets, Ho'omalu's modern interpretation of Hawaiian dance promises to educate, entertain and inspire.
